Meghan Sinnott and I wrote this small, essential guide for the many visitors to Portland every year who want to explore the city the way it’s best seen—by bicycle.
Topics include local laws, the best bridges for bikes, major bike events to plan your trip around, putting your bike on the bus, and how to pronounce street names like a local.
Your copy of PDX by Bike automatically converts any other Portland guidebook into a bike-specific guide. It’ll help keep you safe and loving life by bike in our fair (if slightly rainy) city.
Note: This little guide came out a few years ago, and while some information has changed (notably, bus fares have gone up), we wrote this guide to stay current for a good long time (the instructions for putting your bike on the bus haven’t changed a bit). In fact, we get regular feedback from readers saying thanks for helping them get their biking legs under them in our fair city. With any guide book, it’s good to supplement your plans with a quick Internet search; but in the basics, we’ve got you covered.
